(CNN Spanish) - After 19 days of protests, the Single Federation of Tankers (FUP), a union of the workers of the Brazilian state company Petrobras, announced the provisional suspension of the strike throughout the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the union details that a negotiating committee of the FUP will participate this Friday in a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Labor mediated by a court in Brasilia.

Petrobras, for its part, said it would participate in mediation if the strike was suspended. After the announcement of the FUP, representatives of the oil company have not yet confirmed that they will be present at Friday's meeting.

The protest of the Petrobras trade unionists began after the company announced the dismissal of some 400 workers. This decision was suspended by a court in Paraná on February 18.

Despite the court's decision, Petrobras workers clarified that the mobilizations would continue to achieve compliance with a clause within their collective agreement that prevents, among other things, layoffs without first being discussed with the union.

According to the unions, the strike affected 55 Petrobras oil platforms, all refineries and several terminals.

Petrobras, on the other hand, assured that they had not registered total work stoppage in any of its bases and assured that the daily production had not been affected.

Meanwhile, the company published the financial report for the fourth quarter of 2019 on Thursday.

The oil company reports that it registered revenues of 40.1 billion reais, equivalent to about 9,130 million dollars. According to Petrobras, they are the highest revenues in their history and an increase of 55.7% compared to 2018.
