Within the sixth day of the service week held at the level of administrative units in cooperation with the civil society on the occasion of the Local Councils Day, various activities and environmental activities were held in the governorates of Damascus, Lattakia, Hasaka, and Quneitra.

In Damascus, the governorate organized a reforestation campaign in the ninth node on the southern Al-Mathalaq road to improve its aesthetic reality and increase the green areas within the activities of the voluntary service development week.

Engineer Mahmoud Mortada, director of parks in the governorate of Damascus, said in a statement to SANA that the campaign included planting citrus trees and cypress after the dirt berms were removed from the area, confirming the continuation of the province in afforestation and tree care campaigns and increasing the green cover in the city.

To that, the local development office in the governorate, in cooperation with the Syrian Secretariat for Development and the civil society, set up a voluntary day to plant trees in an illiterate garden in an eastern door in order to enhance social responsibility in preserving the environment and increasing interest in it.

The Environmental Affairs Directorate in the governorate has also implemented a campaign to measure the emission of car exhaust gases in the Abbasiyin Square, during which a measure was made of the gases emitted from the exhausts of a number of vehicles, in addition to educating drivers on the need to monitor the emission of gases from car exhaust to protect the environment from pollution.

In Lattakia, the Services and Maintenance Directorate workshops are continuing maintenance work in the western and southern corniche of the city, from restoring the stone and metal fence to painting of mashrabiya.

The director of services and maintenance, Eng. Yasser Badr, confirmed that the workshops continue their work to restore the luster of these two areas, as well as maintenance of lighting poles and replacing the damaged ones due to natural factors in addition to the solar panels, pointing out that the garden workshops worked on pruning trees in a number of city parks.

Maintenance Department workshops are working to rehabilitate a random garbage dump in the Qunnas neighborhood in cooperation with the directorates of cleanliness and gardens, according to the head of the department, Engineer Thaer Jaafar, who indicated that the work is carried out through the removal of garbage, leveling the land and bringing agricultural soil in preparation for planting it with types of trees and storing them with allocating a part to place a number of containers Garbage as appropriate.

In the municipality of two departments, hygiene campaigns continued to include today the various sub-streets in cooperation with students of the village school and the local community, according to Mayor Tamim Saqr.

In the municipality of Bab Jannah in Al-Haffa countryside, the people participated in the activities of the municipality with a comprehensive cleanliness campaign that spanned six days, according to the head of the Municipal Council, Miqdad Mahmoud, who indicated that the work today focused on setting up a reforestation campaign in coordination with the Haraj Al-Haffa division and the Haraj Shalnafa police station with the participation of the families of the martyrs, pointing out that Pine plantations and some laurels were planted next to the health center, the guiding unit, and the school complex in the village of Bab Jannah, in addition to the land donated by the martyr Muhammad Jamil Shehadeh, to be a kindergarten for the martyrs before his martyrdom.

The afforestation campaigns also included the municipalities of Sharifa, Al-Hara, Ninti, Al-Hanadi and Al-Shtabliya in cooperation with the Directorate of Agriculture, where olive trees, citrus trees, pine trees and laurels were planted on the pavement of the main street of the village of Al-Shabtaliya in cooperation with the local community and workers from agriculture, according to the mayor, Zahreddine Zureik, who pointed out that a school yard was planted The martyr Ali Ahmed Halloum Elementary with these types as well.

The mayor of Al-Hara Municipality, Hisham Ibrahim, pointed out that the afforestation campaign took place near the Riad Al-Shuhada, with the participation of families of martyrs, activities and people from the villages of the municipality, while Mayor Ninti Atef Khazameh indicated that the afforestation campaign was concentrated in the municipality square and the Martyr Eid Othman School Square.

In Hasaka, the councils of the cities of Hasaka and Qamishli carried out a number of service activities at the end of the service week in the governorate, which included cleaning the Al-Hal market area in Hasaka, cleaning the streets and gardens, lighting maintenance, weeding equals, and rehabilitating the Basel and tourist roundabouts in Qamishli.

The head of the Hasaka City Council, Engineer Adnan Khaju, stated that the council, in cooperation with service departments, official institutions and the local community, implemented these activities with the aim of improving the service reality, explaining that 22 concrete bases were installed in a number of streets to install 44 solar panels in addition to planting 90 plants in the Revolution Park Rehabilitation of Mr. President roundabout in the city of Hasaka.

Al-Qamishli City Council Chairman Eng. Suhail Al-Rahawi stated that the activities of the service week focused on specific areas within the city and included the removal of garbage and an environmental awareness campaign.

In Quneitra, the municipalities of the city of Al-Baath and Jabat Al-Khashab carried out campaigns to clean up, prune trees in the main streets, get rid of tree remains and carry out garbage.

The municipal council of Ghadeer Al-Bustan also carried out cleanliness, deportation of waste, and cleaning of rain and water effluents, while the Municipality of Umm Batinah carried out a campaign of cleaning, collecting and deporting household waste, and cleaning roads and gardens in public facilities in the village of Al-Ajraf within the municipality area, and the municipality also carried out restoration and afforestation of Al-Karama roundabout in the town.

In the town of Khan Arnaba, the municipality implemented, in cooperation with the civil society, the Solid Waste Directorate and the United Nations Development Program, the work of removing rubble and cleaning several neighborhoods within the town.

In addition, the municipality of the Shebaa Community for Displaced Persons in Damascus countryside, in cooperation with the Potable Water Establishment in Quneitra, implemented the installation of a number of 2 drinking water tanks, each with a capacity of 20,000 cubic liters, to secure drinking water for citizens.
