Hong Kong residents have been shopping hysterically since the Corona epidemic broke out. The frightened residents stock everything - from rice to toilet paper - that almost runs out of grocery store shelves. The scarcity of toilet paper has caused the price of the black market to skyrocket, and crime organizations have recognized the potential.

Police on Thursday arrested a man suspected of belonging to a gang of toilet paper robbers operating in the city in recent days. This is the third stop the local police have been able to stop from the gang. The suspect, 26, was arrested after he allegedly robbed 600 rolls of toilet paper from a city guesthouse. Two others were arrested earlier when they robbed toilet paper from supermarkets.

"We believe the three suspects realized that the value of toilet paper in the market was rising, and we were planning to 'make a jackpot' from the sale of the rollers," local police said. According to police, the three suspects had a prior acquaintance with each other and belong to an organized crime group operating in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
