Attention, great luxury! After a ghost metro station in Brussels (2017), the Elisabethenkirche church in Basel (2018) or the gallery of Mineralogy and Geology of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris (2019), Charles Kaisin is at Le Meurice will organize its next “Surrealist Dinner” on March 19. By reservation only, at a rate of € 780 per person, 72 “happy few” can take advantage of this extravagant and exclusive event, open for the first time to the (wealthy) public.
The previous editions of this meeting, born from a private reception in the apartment of the Belgian architect and designer in 2012, were reserved for large houses which invited their customers (Hermès, Cartier, Rolls-Royce, Roederer , Ice-Watch ...). Over sixty dinners have been held around the world. The principle? An unexpected evening in an atypical place, transformed into a surrealist world apart, mixing art, haute-cuisine and flight scenography.

What better place to organize a surreal dinner than a hotel which was for more than 30 years the home of the most surrealist of artists, Salvador Dali? Orchestrated for months by the Meurice and designer teams, the “happening” on March 19 will take place in the palace’s state salon, on the theme of metamorphosis. Kaisin was given carte blanche to dazzle his guests, while the teams of Alain Ducasse and pastry chef Cédric Grolet imagined a meal that will be accompanied by the greatest vintages of Dom Pérignon.
A performance between each dish
In order to keep the surprise until the end, neither the planned extravagances nor the details of the meal are announced. We just know that dinner will be punctuated by various entertainment, with a performance between each dish, as well as an interlude every three minutes. The animations will follow each other without looking alike, always following the guideline of the metamorphosis. “A real immersive experience, which will awaken each of your senses through images, sounds, projections, smells, flavors and many other surprises. You will be immersed in a poetic, phantasmagorical and dreamlike universe. ” promise the organizers.
As for the menu, it will be a 4-course dinner, made up of certain signature dishes from Meurice. The appetizers were chosen in coherence with the staging of the different paintings. Cédric Grolet will also offer a twisted version of his trompe-l'oeil lemon.
