Bulgari: Gran Turismo watchmaker

2020-02-21T07:17:57.001Z

Can we imagine finer? The brand continues its race with new incarnations for the general public of its ultra-thin and ultra-light Octo Finissimo.

After five years patiently building its watchmaking foundations, Bulgari is aimed at the general public this year, starting with men. The one who, in his life, may only buy two or three real beautiful watches. And among these, the Octo Finissimo must be taken for granted ... "The first step was first to anchor Bulgari as a watchmaker, once and for all, to be considered as the jeweler of time, decrypts Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bulgari. So we created our supercars, our five world records, crowned with 54 international grand prizes. Besides setting world records for thinness, these were extreme watches, in extreme materials like titanium, and in an extreme, monochromatic aesthetic. Indeed, the dial, case and bracelet were of the same material. The success of esteem was immediate, no one had ever seen that! ”

But, even if it is a dream, who uses a supercar every day? Bulgari is now entering its Gran Turismo period, with new Octo Finissimo still as exceptional, but in gold and steel, with a re-proportioned box in terms of thickness / diameter ratio. This 40 millimeter diameter Octo Finissimo is thus available to all contemporary wrists, between a water resistance to 100 meters made possible by its screwed crown and new elegant and satin finishes that titanium did not allow. “In fact, our watches are the mirror of our jewelry. Their reason for being is above all their difference compared to Swiss watchmaking, specifies Jean-Christophe Babin. They must be the association of Swiss excellence in mechanical terms with the genius of Italian design, recognized worldwide, notably Roman. ”

These new steel and rose gold versions carry an extra-thin Finissimo BVL138 caliber of only 2.23 millimeters thick. The new ceramic-polished-sandblasted finish combines a polished sandblasted ceramic case and bracelet with a sandblasted ceramic dial, to create an unprecedented play of light on its matte and shiny monochrome surfaces.

Bulgari Octo Finissimo, automatic, satin polished steel, € 11,900; in ceramic, € 15,500, or in gold, € 22,000 (Bugari.com).
