NBA: Trae Young untenable with 50 points, Milwaukee and Houston in demonstration

2020-02-21T07:18:08.401Z

Author of 50 points, Trae Young took Atlanta to Miami. Milwaukee and Houston have ideally relaunched the season after the All-Star weekend break.

Atlanta point guard Trae Young had the best performance of his young career on Thursday, with 50 points that put Miami out, while Milwaukee and Houston easily won for the NBA resume after the weekend break All- Star Trae Young had already scored 49 points twice, but a free throw scored two seconds from time allowed him to sign the best total of his career, with 50 points, giving the Hawks a victory over the Heat, 129- 124. He is the fourth youngest player to score 50 points in a game, after LeBron James, Devin Booker and Brandon Jennings.

The leader was very skilful behind the 3-point line, with 8 successful shots out of 15, including an impressive basket shot from the central circle, and missed only his very last free throw (18 successful out of 19). It was also the first time a Hawks player has scored 50 points since November 2001. Bam Adebayo, on the other hand, took 19 rebounds, his highest score this season, and scored 28 points for Miami, which lost five of his last six games.

Evening to forget for Brooklyn

The Nets sign the bad operation of the evening. The Brooklyn franchise, however, did not deserve to be compared to that of Philadelphia: after a slow start, the Nets overpowered the game, ending the first half at 42-52. But carried by a Joel Embiid of the big evenings (39 points and 16 rebounds for the pivot), Philadelphia finally won 112-104, after having pulled out the overtime. For the Nets, this defeat against the fifth of the Eastern conference is added to another bad news: the end of the season of its star Kyrie Irving due to shoulder surgery.

Milwaukee and Houston, Masters

Faced with affordable opponents, the Bucks and the Rockets quietly ensured their recovery after the All Star weekend. Milwaukee dominated Detroit 106-126, thanks to a Giannis Antetokounmpo still as hard-hitting. Signing a double-double, last season's best player (MVP) finished the game with 33 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Facing his former team, Khris Middleton scored 28 points, allowing the Bucks not to suffer a second defeat in a row, which would have been a first this season. For the Pistons, who have accumulated five consecutive defeats, Sekou Doumbouya produced a very average match: his team cashed in a differential of -19 when he was on the field. He still scored 8 points, took 5 rebounds and offered 3 assists.

As for the Rockets, they won against the Warriors 105-135, in particular thanks to the double-doubles signed James Harden and Russell Westbrook. With 10 assists each, the former scored 29 points and the latter 21 points. The only downside: the exclusion, after two technical faults, of Westbrook, author of a nasty nudge on Damion Lee during the fourth quarter.

Furthermore, the Warriors have finally formalized that Klay Thompson will not return to the courts this season. The back had torn the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee in June 2019. He is scheduled to resume training with the Warriors in late September 2020.

The results of the night:

Philadelphia - Brooklyn 112 - 104 AD
Golden State - Houston 105 - 135
Atlanta - Miami 129 - 124
Sacramento - Memphis 129 - 125
Chicago - Charlotte 93 - 103
Detroit - Milwaukee 106 - 126
