Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed during a phone call today with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the need for unconditional respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, expressing his deep concern over the continued terrorist attacks in Idlib governorate.

The Kremlin said in a statement that the focus of attention during the call was "on the status quo in the de-escalation zone in Idlib, where President Putin expressed his deep concern about the continuation of hostilities by terrorist groups, and the focus was on the need for unconditional respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria."

The Kremlin statement indicated that President Putin referred to the issue of settling the crisis in Libya, stressing the importance of tireless implementation of the decisions of the Berlin International Conference on it.

Yesterday, President Putin, in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, reiterated the need to confront the terrorist threat and preserve Syria's unity and sovereignty.
