Evo Morales seeks candidacy for the Plurinational Assembly 3:38
(CNN Spanish) - The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) of Bolivia on Thursday disabled the candidacy of former president Evo Morales to the Senate for not complying with the requirement of permanent residence.
The president of the court, Salvador Romero, indicated that due to the lack of said condition, the “disqualification” of Morales and other applicants was “ordered. However, he clarified that "the disqualification claims against Luis Arce, candidate for the presidency of the MAS" were dismissed for "lack of foundation" and that he "fulfilled the requirements for the authorization."
Morales reacted to the decision in his official Twtter account by saying that the TSE measure "is a blow against democracy." And he added that the members of that authority “know that I meet all the requirements to be a candidate. The ultimate goal is the proscription of the MAS ”.
