Polling stations opened all over Iran at eight o’clock today to start the polling process in the 11th parliamentary elections and the midterm elections for the Leaders ’Experts Council at its fifth session.

The leader of the revolution, Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei, as the first person voted at eight in the morning in the eleventh legislative elections.

The IRNA news agency quoted Khamenei as saying in a statement during his voting that the election day is a blessed day and a national wedding and the day of the realization of the civil right of the Iranian people, as it is a legitimate right for every Iranian citizen and it is a legal and religious duty.

Khamenei added ... everyone who cares about the country's national interests must participate in these elections to elect a strong council to face the challenges because the council is one of the most important pillars of the strong regime in Iran.

The number of those who are entitled to participate in the parliamentary elections at its eleventh session is 57 million and 918 thousand and 159 people, including two million and 931 thousand and 766 people who are entitled to participate for the first time after reaching the age of eighteen.

The number of polling stations in all parts of the country is 55 thousand polling stations to vote for the elections within the framework of 208 electoral districts.

The electoral campaign took place for a week and ended at eight in the morning yesterday, that is, 24 hours before the start of the electoral process.

The midterm elections for the Leadership Experts Council are being held in conjunction with the parliamentary elections in a number of governorates of the country.

The rate of participation in the Iranian parliamentary elections is one of the highest levels in the world and the highest rate of participation was the fifth in 1996 with 71.1 percent and the lowest is the seventh in the year 2004 by 51.21 percent and the participation rate in the previous ten sessions reached 60.53 percent.
