Donald Trump, who has just announced the replacement of the director of the American intelligence, was furious against him because his services made known before elected officials of a Russian interference in the electoral campaign for the presidential election of 2020, reported on Thursday several media Americans, including the New York Times .

According to these sources, Donald Trump let his anger explode against Joe Maguire, acting director of national intelligence - the agency that oversees the intelligence services - when he was informed of a briefing dated February 13 before the Intelligence Committee of the House of Representatives. It is not immediately clear if the US President objected to a particular part of this briefing, during which Joe Maguire's adviser, Shelby Pierson, allegedly told elected officials that Russia was once again in interfering in the US elections to promote the candidacy of Donald Trump.

But according to the New York Times , the president was particularly angry by the presence of Adam Schiff, the democrat who directed the parliamentary investigation following which the republican billionaire was charged with abuse of power and obstruction of the work of the Congress. Joe Maguire was one of the favorites to become permanent director of intelligence but, according to the Washington Post , Trump turned on him when he was informed of this top secret briefing. The president then attacked Maguire during a meeting in the Oval Office last week, criticizing him for the "lack of loyalty" of his staff, according to the Washington Post . What would have been the "catalyst" for the sidelining of Joe Maguire, according to the newspaper.

Since being acquitted by the Republican-dominated Senate during his impeachment trial, Trump has sacked several people, including the Justice Department, the National Security Council or the Pentagon, deeming them unfair. Among them are Lieutenant-Colonel Alex Vindman and Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, two key witnesses during the impeachment investigation, and John Rood, number three in the Pentagon.

The president announced on Wednesday that he was replacing Mr. Maguire with Richard Grenell, the current US ambassador to Germany. The 53-year-old loyal supporter of Donald Trump had angered many German officials with his unsympathetic stance. Since arriving at the White House, Trump has frequently ignored the advice of his former intelligence chief, Dan Coats, and kept him out of certain files, including relations with Russia.
