Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin discussed with the Iranian ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali today the situation in Syria.
"The two sides exchanged views on the regional agenda, including the current situation on Syria, with a focus on moving forward in coordinating efforts within the framework of the Astana formula," the Russian news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement.
The spokesman for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, announced yesterday that preparations for a trilateral summit between Russia, Iran and Turkey on Syria are under way, indicating that the date of the summit has not been decided yet.
