The fund of 30 billion yuan was approved yesterday (21st) by the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council.
According to the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, to complement the government's measures under the fund, existing tenants and startups located in Science Parks, Innovation Centres and Industrial Villages will be able to obtain full rents from April 1 to September 30, 2020 寛Free up to 10,000 square feet. Beneficiaries include incubation companies, partner companies, retail and restaurant operators, and companies that provide professional services.
According to the science and technology park company, under the current severe economic environment, many innovation and technology companies face operational difficulties. The Science Park Corporation actively provides more support to startups, partner companies and the park community, including a six-month 50% discount on rent concessions in October last year, and freezing 2020 rents, management fees and service fees.
Huang Keqiang, CEO of the Science Park Corporation, welcomed the government's rent concession measures and believed that the measures would help retain Hong Kong's scientific research strength and talents and maintain Hong Kong's innovation and technology momentum.
