The landscape protection association has reached its goal - for now. The Hausham municipal council unanimously declared the citizens' petition against the Abwinkl construction area admissible.

Hausham - When he looked at the audience seats, Hubert Lacrouts (CSU) stated in the town council: "There are also some who were happy ten years ago that they were allowed to build their house." That said Lacrouts to the initiators of the citizens' appeal against this New development area on Huberbergstrasse, one must now also concede today's young house hammers. Many would find it difficult to buy property on the open market. Supporting them and, on top of that, creating a new home for the children in the Bambi house "who are not on the sunny side of life" was justification enough to convert the areas at the foot of the Huberspitz into building land, Lacrouts campaigned. Therefore, one can also confidently oppose a citizens' decision. "We don't have to be afraid of that."

But the opponents of the construction project can also say that. What in the beginning only seemed like the individual criticism of some residents, has developed under the leadership of the landscape protection association into a resistance movement that should not be underestimated. The initiators of the citizens' petition submitted 760 valid signatures to the town hall - significantly more than the 637 required by quorum.

Municipal council declares citizens' petitions admissible

Mayor Jens Zangenfeind (FWG) noted that the admissibility check in the town hall uncovered a possible violation of the so-called coupling ban (several decisions may not be linked to one question). Lawyers would have seen it similarly. But since the district office has given the green light as a legal supervisory authority, there is no want to start a dispute here. "That would only drag everything out and incur additional costs," said Zangenfeind. He therefore advised the municipal councils to decide on the implementation of the citizens' decision.

They unanimously followed the recommendation. At the same time, however, all factions made it clear once again that they are 100 percent behind the plans of the community. The path of citizen participation was the right one right from the start, so the decision should now be followed, said Thomas Danzer (SPD). However, he already announced that his parliamentary group would request a sale of the land in the leasehold model if the planning process continued. That, said Zangenfeind, would be decided in due course. For now, however, the matter will be left pending clarification. Since the citizens' decision was to be carried out within three months of the decision, the local council would set a date promptly.

Mayor on construction area: "What should be bad about it?"

As a “rival proposal”, the committee unanimously decided to oppose the citizens' request for a council and also launched the key question required for the same outcome. "This enables us to actively promote our project," said Zangenfeind. The goal must be to emphasize the necessity of the building area without bad talk of the citizens' request. In any case, the town hall chief is certain that this is a unique opportunity. "It would be punishable not to use them." Living space for local families and for 30 children with disabilities: "What's wrong with that?" Asked Zangenfeind.

He asked the citizens to show more trust in the community. All concerns were taken seriously and the plans adjusted accordingly. Alternative areas are simply not available. "We cannot force a farmer to sell," said Zangenfeind. It is a tradition in Hausham to create living space for locals. Older citizens in particular are still grateful that they were allowed to build back then. Not a single local community project has ever caused building sins, financial damage or even dangers to the neighbors.

So you will continue to do, promised Zangenfeind. "And that's why I like to campaign for it in a council request."
