The Ministry of the Interior announced that a company has been arrested in Damascus, which is selling sportswear and a center that sells medical equipment whose owners deal in a currency other than the Syrian pound.
The ministry stated in a statement that SANA received a copy of it today that in the framework of following up with customers other than the Syrian pound, the Criminal Security Department was able to investigate the company's headquarters and the center in coordination with the judicial police of the Central Bank of Syria.
The ministry explained that the center found a sum of (three hundred thousand) Syrian pounds, a computer, a surveillance camera recording device, and documents containing the price of the goods in US dollars, noting that, in investigation with the owner of the center, he admitted to dealing in US dollars by offering medical equipment in his center for sale in US dollars.
The ministry indicated that it found in the company foreign amounts, an amount (nine million and forty one thousand Syrian pounds) and documents written on it amounts in foreign currency confirming its dealings other than the Syrian pound and seized five computers and a surveillance camera recording device.
The confiscated amounts were handed over, according to the Ministry, to the Central Bank of Syria, and investigations are still ongoing to take the necessary legal measures.
