The United Nations Committee on the Status of Implementation of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples re-elected Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, as its decision by acclamation.
The committee also re-elected, during a session chaired by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the permanent delegate of Grenada as its chair and the delegates of Indonesia, Cuba and Sierra Leone as vice-chairmen of the committee known as “C24”.
