Local election or not: Local issues passed unnoticed on the 73rd Gernlinden carnival procession. Almost unnoticed. After all, two groups of feet ensured a certain local color when choosing the topic: with a rather skeptical view of the election day on March 15.
Gernlinden - "No matter which sheep you count on, you always choose wrong", was the title of the "Cheeky Chickens". The "Rodrunners Maisach" hit the same line: "Duck dance in politics. We'll just go swimming with you anyway, ”they wrote under the portrait of the four candidates for mayor.
The municipality with its many districts is very large and has recently offered little scope for attack: Christian Kemether, as chairman of the Gernlinden local cartel, justified the rather general selection of topics. "The people of Olching are usually more political than we here in Gernlinden with their carnival parade."

13 wagons and ten groups of feet snaked through the district of Maisach. The number of participants remained roughly the same as last year. Kemether was satisfied with it - after all, the carnival procession took place in Moorenweis at the same time, and the strong wind had probably prevented some from coming to watch. “Canceling because of the weather was never an issue,” said Kemether.
Children from the Gernlinden primary school came as firefighters - in praise for the defense and emergency services.

It would have been a shame if the participants' efforts had been blown away by the wind. "There were a lot of people very creative," Kemether praised the quality of the cars and foot groups. The cars of the Gernlinden fire brigade were very well received, with their “Curse of the Greta” making headlines for the Swedish environmental activist. The fire department offered the eye-catcher of this carnival procession. The shooters from Frischauf Graßlfing, who saw China as the new leading world power (instead of the USA), were also globally active.
Several wagons and foot groups took care of the emergency. "Patients out of control", for example, the forest shooters from Gernlinden described the situation. The girls and boys from the primary school in Gernlinden, with a group that was strongly represented in numbers, praised the volunteer efforts of the fire brigade and emergency services.

The "Gernlinden women carnival" added a splash of color. In striking green, the women warned: "Climate change makes it happen, we are blooming all year now." The "Lady Gracha", who were on the road as candy girls, had also reached into the strong part of the color palette.
According to the local cartel organizing, around 3,500 spectators had gathered around the train, a little less than in 2019. Those who stayed outside for a long time despite the wind also had fun at the subsequent party around the civic center.
