Municipal in Paris: these announcements made by candidates Dati and Buzyn… which already exist

2020-02-23T19:51:11.171Z

In the presentation of their program this weekend, candidates LR and LREM at the Hôtel de Ville put forward proposals that exist

Security assistants in each arrondissement? "It's very kind of Madame Dati to want to set it up, but it will be very easy to do ... because it's already done!" "Chokes Colombe Brossel, current assistant in charge of security at the town hall of Paris.

The announcement made by the candidate LR at the Hôtel de Ville, who mentioned her program this Sunday in the columns of the Parisian, is not the only one to have reacted the elected officials of the town hall of Paris, who denounce measures presented as new… even though they are already in place in the capital. Here are some details.

On security. Rachida Dati announces that "each district will have a security assistant and municipal police who will be assigned to it". However, "this is already the case," corrects Colombe Brossel. Not only do the district mayors have an assistant responsible for security - including in the seventh district of which Rachida Dati is mayor - but also, “in each of them, the mayor works in conjunction with the chief of district DPSP (direction of prevention, security and protection) who will be tomorrow the municipal police chief at the level of the district ”, details the current assistant.

In her interview with the Parisian, the candidate LR also specifies that she wants the establishment of a "victim assistant in each district". Colombe Brossel recalls that a similar device already exists at the local level. “We have set up social workers, who are City agents, in 11 police stations. They deal in particular with women victims of violence, young victims of brawls and people victims of LGBTphobic violence ”. To the credit of Rachida Dati, however, it should be noted that this mission is not currently the responsibility of an assistant.

Colombe Brossel also recounts the figure of “3,400 field agents”, desired by Rachida Dati. "These are already the current staff of the DPSP, and we have the ambition to increase to more than 5,000 as announced by Anne Hidalgo". On the other hand, the arming of the police and the 4,000 video surveillance cameras wanted by the candidate LR are not on the program of the current mayor and are therefore real novelties.

On cleanliness. Rachida Dati wants to "develop the mechanization of tasks and the generalization of modern tools", such as sidewalk vacuums and compacting bins. "I am happy to see that the mayor of the 7th arrondissement validates what we are doing," quipped Paul Simondon, Anne Hidalgo's assistant in charge of cleanliness. "We have a hundred sidewalk vacuums in operation." In addition, 450 compact bins have been deployed since 2019 in "the most visited sites". These solar powered bins send an alert to agents when they threaten to overflow.

Another candidate (LREM) for mayor, Agnès Buzyn announces for her part "want to entrust the collection of waste to the private sector". This is already the case ... but partially, since the collection is organized as a public service delegation in half of the districts of Paris. A balance that the current mayor, candidate for his succession, intends to maintain.

On housing. Agnès Buzyn wishes to reserve social housing for "agents who work in the service of Parisians". "Since 2001, a quarter of the social housing in the City of Paris quota has been allocated in priority to municipal officials each year," specifies Ian Brossat, assistant in charge of housing at the Paris city hall. "And an agreement was signed between the City and the AP-HP in 2017 to allocate 500 housing units to hospital staff in two years, which was not completed on time. So we extended the agreement for another year. ”

Rachida Dati promises to “change the allocation criteria (social housing) in order to favor people living in Paris”. "Parisians are already a priority," retorts Ian Brossat.
