The incident occurred at about 9 pm on the 21st of last month. The CE13 customs shallow water patrol boat carrying five customs officers was suspected of sinking during an anti-smuggling operation on the sandbar surface of Longgu Beach in Tuen Mun. The marine police arrived to rescue two of the customs officers first, and the firefighting frogman rescued the remaining three customs officers in the "mortuary room" 20 minutes later. However, after the three were sent to the hospital for rescue, they all died.
The three dead customs officers included female senior customs officer Wu Yongmin (43 years old), acting senior customs officer Li Zhiheng (age 39) and customs officer Huang Ming (age 26). Huang Yan will be the first to die, and the other two will be held with the highest honor funeral on the 5th and 11th of next month. The remains will be buried in Haoyuan.
