A government spokesman said that according to the regulations, persons who have stayed in the Mainland for any period of time within 14 days must undergo compulsory quarantine for 14 days. Under the compulsory quarantine measures, some Hong Kong people in Guangdong and Fujian provinces cannot come to Hong Kong for follow-up consultations or return to the Mainland the same day after receiving prescription drugs. Even if the family members in Hong Kong can take the medicines on their behalf, due to the existing legal restrictions, they cannot deliver the prescribed medicines to the Mainland by ordinary delivery.

To address their shortage of prescription drugs, the SAR government has launched a special program to deliver them prescription drugs.

The FTU will deliver drugs to helpers

The spokesman pointed out that through its local and mainland offices, the FTU will collect prescription medicines on behalf of Hong Kong people who have made appointments with the HA and the Department of Health for follow-up appointments, or receive their relatives and friends from the HA, the Department of Health or private Prescription drugs collected at the doctor's office.

After verifying and reporting to the relevant government departments, the government will arrange for the courier to deliver the medicines to the mainland office of the FTU and be responsible for the freight.

Courier costs are fully borne by the government

The spokesman also said that the courier fee for the drug delivery service will be fully borne by the SAR Government, and the FTU will not charge any service fees for the helper or his family.
