5000 visitors, over 600 participants - how can you please everyone at such a spectacle? The Tagblatt tries it out when moving to Großweil with an idea. We ceremonially award the Golden Greta in ten categories.
Großweil - My God, Großweil, what does this carnival only make of you? Your streets take in four times as many people as live in your houses. 5000 viewers, you estimate alone. And this number, according to chief organizer Burkhard Ziegltrum, is still low. For one day every four years you are the capital of the fools in the district, the throne room of the Gaudi. "This is sensational," explains Ziegltrum.
To somehow put the sensation into words that are as creative and colorful as the many cars and participants, the Tagblatt came up with something: We award the Goldene Greta. In ten categories. The price is fictitious and guarantees climate-friendly, the wages unlimited honor for the next four years. We have to protect our jury - an entire editorial team of carnival fanatics - from the start. The selection was so large, the offer so good, basically one category would come to mind for each of the 33 groups. Even the chief planner does not commit to one, says: “There is no such thing as the best group. We don't just nail something and hang a balloon ”- that's exactly why the freestyle was so difficult. But now, drum roll, hold on to the Golden Greta award ceremony. Have fun and enjoy yourself!
MOST EXTENSIVE CAR
When Ziegltrum heard of this plan, he thought: "Buam, you have one on the bar." They built an oversized Makita construction site radio. Including running batteries. How much work depends on such projects can no longer be quantified in hours. But probably in euros. In some groups, says the head of the organization, “a few hundred euros are spent on each other”. Hence the four-year cycle. A Loisach worm every year would be a sinfully expensive affair.
FUNNY GROUP
The Germans find the “Dinner for One” sketch so funny that the television stations in the country broadcast it 27 times on New Year's Eve. Whatever arrives at the turn of the year ignites like a laughing grenade in Großweil. Highlight: The fall of Butler James over the plush tiger in the shadow of the Church of St. George. A great moment of street entertainment.
MOST COLORFUL ACT
Representatives of pure color and harmony should look away better. The octopus group just mixed everything like the big leftovers at the end of the week. Pink, poison green, sea blue, peach orange - a wider range of colors than the good old Nintendo Game Boy Color. Carnival has always been colorful, but these costumes create new dimensions.
THE LOUDEST
It is a secret that the average carnival guest does not want to reveal. How in the world do the carnival guards preserve their good mood and their voice for months while the less blessed among us age by ten years per carnival ball and need lubricating oil for their voice? In Großweil the Prince Guard Jumping Jacks - especially their monster bass - drowned everyone. Helps only one thing: ears closed and through.
BEST SAYING
Of course, this category has to be about Greta, because on Sunday so much was about Greta and her fight for the climate. The award for the best saying goes to the plastic mobile, which was also an eye-catcher with its masses of packaging waste and a whale replica. "Save the Earth !!! It is the only planet with beer, ”it said on the back. Just behind: the little swipe against the Zugspitzbahn and its gondola accident. It said: “Half a gondola. Half environmental pollution. ”Greta likes that.
BEST COSTUME
The king category - the main prize - goes to: "The trolls from the Großweiler forest." Jewelry made from chestnuts and pine cones. Ivy wreaths. Clothing covered with moss. Orange hair that is no different from real hair. The best: Small and large run together. There's a dance on top. Everything fits.
BEST MOOD
Now a little nerd knowledge for everyone: The stormtroopers from the science fiction saga Star Wars are actually terrific comedians. They are presented as hard and uncompromising to parody them again if they never hit an opponent in battles or run into a sliding door in a sprint. Above all, they come in their armor as rigid dogs with the motion profile of a nutcracker. Now in Großweil, mobile young women have been hiding under the white suits. They pimped the image of the stormtroopers properly. Everyone wanted to see their dance performances. Awesome choreo that would have been noticed in any music club. The mood on the side of the road was similar.
BEST INSERT
Why didn't anyone get the idea to start a dance battle, a dance competition between stormtroopers and Spiegel women? A space battle on the dance floor? Man, that would have made the village boil. As far as ingenuity is concerned, the women with the mirrors on wheels outperformed the colleagues from the other galaxy. Simply spaced.
THE CLIMATE PRICE
They all want to save the climate. But who does it the smartest and most sustainable and thereby qualifies for the climate price? Well, why be innovative when the solution is thousands of years old? Build a wooden ship, animals on it and wait for it to come back. Consumes hardly any CO2. In addition, Greta has already experimented with navigating the world's oceans. This time not in the sailing boat, but in the Arche Greta.
SPECIAL PRICE
Finally, a price for the car with the most local color. The poor prisoners in Grosscatraz, the Großweiler version of Alcatraz, the prison island off San Francisco, received him. The Großweiler feel locked up, even bricked up, behind their new soundproof wall on the main street. Many attempts to break out ended badly. The good news: Nobody has suffered permanent damage.
