The prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes Bernard Gonzalez announced Monday February 24 that 3 suspected cases of coronavirus were being tested in the department. A case would be unlikely. He made the announcement during a meeting with local elected officials and representatives of the Regional Health Agency. The results of the tests will be known this afternoon.

Fears of a pandemic increased on Monday after the multiplication of new cases outside of mainland China, especially in South Korea, Iran, the Middle East as well as in Italy, neighbor of the Alpes-Maritimes. More than 150 cases are recorded there.
