New Delhi-Sana
Indian cities have seen several demonstrations against the United States and its President Donald Trump, who is making his first visit to India since he took office.
The Associated Press reported that while the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was busy receiving Trump in the western city of Ahmedabad, demonstrations against that visit took place in the capital, New Delhi, and in the cities of Guwahati, Calcutta and Hyderabad.
In New Delhi, dozens of supporters of the Communist Party of India carried banners reading "Return Trump," Dorisamy Raja, Secretary-General of the Communist Party, accused Modi of submitting to American pressure and giving her access to Indian markets at the expense of protecting India's interests.
Trump arrived in India today for a two-day visit, where he is scheduled to visit the capital, New Delhi, Agra and Western Gujarat, and analysts believe that this visit aims to strengthen his position in the upcoming presidential elections as he aspires to attract the Americans who also hold Indian citizenship, numbering 2.4 million in the United States for his class.
