Extra long weekend: how public services work during Carnival holidays

On the first extra long weekend of the year, the City's public services will operate with different schedules than those on business days. The same will happen with public transport, which will circulate with the frequencies of a Sunday.

Subways and trains

Both this Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 the subway will run from 8 to 22.30, as every Sunday and holiday. In the case of the Premetro, it will serve from 8 to 21.

The Miter, Sarmiento, Belgrano Sur, Roca, San Martín and Tren de la Costa railway lines will also work on the schedule of Sundays during both holidays.

Shoppings and cinemas

The shopping centers will open normally and this Monday, your food courts will be open until 1.

Shoppings open normally. The opening hours of the commercial premises are from 10 to 22. It is necessary to take into account that this Monday, as Tuesday is also a holiday, the gastronomic premises will remain open until 1, as it happens on Saturdays and all the eve of holidays. On Tuesday, however, they will close at 23.

On the other hand, all cinemas will open normally and offer functions at the usual times.

Public agencies and services of the Buenos Aires Government

  • Hospitals: The guards and the SAME will work.
  • Schools: Closed
  • Cemeteries: On Monday and Tuesday the burials in the cemeteries of Chacarita, Flores, Recoleta and the City Crematorium will be held from 9 to 12 at the destination.
  • Government Administration of Public Revenue and General Directorate of Revenue: Closed.
  • Community Headquarters: Closed.
  • Civil Registry: It will remain closed. Only the death guard will work from 8.30 to 12.30.
  • Waste collection: The service will work normally.
  • Ecobici: Automatic stations will work normally. Bicycles can be used for two hours, like all holidays and weekends.
  • Alcohol and narcotics controls: They will be done on a rotating basis in different strategic points of the City. The advice, as always, is for the responsible driver to refrain from drinking alcohol.
  • Driver's License Registry (Roca headquarters): Closed.
  • Learning track: (Roca 5252): Closed.
  • Vehicle Technical Verification: The seven plants will remain closed for both days.
  • The Directorate General of Infractions will not attend the public, but like all holidays there will be a guard from 9 to 12 to return the cars that are lifted on public roads.
  • Logistics, Civil Defense, Emergency Relief, and telephone line 103 , which answers emergency calls in the City, will keep guards active for 24 hours.
  • Ecological Reserve and Botanical Garden: Open.
  • Sarmiento and Belgrano Parks (ex KDT): Open.
  • Museums: Monday 24 open during normal holiday hours. Tuesday 25, open from 11 to 17. More information at www.buenosaires.gob.ar/museos.
  • Theaters dependent on the City Government: The rooms of the Theater Complex of Buenos Aires and the San Martín Cultural Center will remain closed. The 25 de Mayo Cultural Center and the Usina del Arte will open both days. Meanwhile, the Colon Theater will open for guided tours both Monday and Tuesday.

The parking lot

The Secretary of Transportation of the City informed that both this Monday and Tuesday of Carnival it is authorized to park next to the cord of both paths on the avenues where it is usually prohibited from 7 to 21.

The authorization to leave the car on the avenues does not apply to arteries where it is always prohibited 24 hours a day and on both sidewalks. These are Ingeniero Huergo, Eduardo Madero, Sáenz, July 9, Perito Moreno, La Rábida, General Paz, Leopoldo Lugones and Intendente Cantilo, Roque Sáenz Peña and sections affected by the Metrobus of Juan de Garay avenues, Francisco Fernández de la Cruz , Chiclana, Brazil, Roca, Mayor F. Rabanal, Sáenz, Sánchez de Loria, Almafuerte, Juan B. Justo, Cabildo, Leandro N. Alem, Paseo Colón, San Martín and Rivadavia, between Pedernera and Artigas.
