France reacts well to Montenegro after losing to Germany on Friday

2020-02-24T21:00:06.181Z

The French basketball players, three days after their defeat against the Germans (83-69), largely beat Montenegro, 85 to 66, this Monday in qualifications for the Euro-2021.

The Blues had started these eliminations, disputed without the players of NBA and Euroleague, with a defeat Friday in Germany (83-69). To obtain their ticket, it is recalled that the men of Vincent Collet must finish in the first three of a group of four which also includes Great Britain. Dominant but a little irregular, the Blues allowed the Montenegrins to come back several times in the match before placing the final accelerator in the last quarter (25-12).

15 points for Yabusele

"We were able to show another face by playing with a lot of energy. We were able to do the ball better and we all played together even if we missed a few more shots," commented on the microphone from Canal + Guerschon Yabusele. The former Boston Celtics interior, who played until a few weeks ago in the Chinese championship where he should not return, was the best Frenchman with 15 points, including several spectacular dunks. With an inexperienced team (7 selections on average), the French have laid down the law inside with Moustapha Fall in particular (12 points) and have been able to toughen the game in defense at crucial moments. Back Yakuba Ouattara scored 11 points. "We all had something to prove, we wanted to do well and we made the defensive efforts in front of our audience," said Amath Mbaye, the only group to have participated in the World Cup this summer. The next qualification matches, in Great Britain and against Germany, will take place in November 2020. The Euro will take place in August 2021 in four countries, Germany, Italy, Georgia and the Czech Republic.
