Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in Geneva today the situation in Syria and the relations between Russia and the international organization.

According to a statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry today reported by the Russia Today website, "During the discussions, an in-depth exchange of views took place on the most urgent issues on the international agenda, including the situation in Syria," noting that the two sides also touched on issues related to relations between Russia and the United Nations Secretariat, as well as paying special attention The seventy-fifth anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the founding of the international organization.

The two sides also affirmed their commitment to strengthening the central role of the United Nations in international affairs.
