The municipality of Pöcking is in a good financial position. Chamberlain Michael Schmid still worries.

Pöcking - The impact of the booming construction industry on the financial planning of a municipality can be seen from the example of Pöcking: Many of the issues that were planned for 2019 will only be due in 2020. "Because the order situation of the companies is so good, we were unable to complete certain projects," explains Pöcking's treasurer Michael Schmid. On 406 pages, he compiled the municipality's budget and financial planning up to 2023.

For example, the residents of gentian and dirt roads had to wait - for the renovation of the water pipes at 300 meters each. A total of 400,000 euros are earmarked for this. According to Schmid, the continuation of the road rehabilitation program also costs money. Example: Söckinger Straße is being expanded. However, the biggest investment concerns the Beccult community center, which opened in November 2019. The outdoor facilities with parking spaces are not yet finished, bills still have to be paid for civil engineering work and the like. "We have closing costs of a good two million euros," says the treasurer. The municipality plans to invest 1.5 million euros for the energetic renovation of residential buildings on Kinibauerweg. They date from the 1960s. Eight to ten new apartments are also to be built in the area, and Pöcking plans to spend a further two million euros on this by 2023. The municipality would like to buy land in the village for 3.5 million euros.

For 2020, the municipality expects “only” five million euros in trade taxes

Pöcking is rich: This is not just a sentence that you can hear reliably when you mention the location. He agrees too. This is shown by the approximately 80 million euros in reserves. Around 30 million euros in trade tax revenue in 2018 and around 27 million euros in the following year ended up in the cash register. Schmid explains the sums with company sales. "The proceeds have to be taxed." But the treasurer speaks of "one-off effects". For 2020, the municipality expects “only” five million euros in trade tax revenue. Anyone who has benefited a lot from the businesses must then pass on a lot to the district. Pöcking is paying around 18.6 million euros in district levies this year - second place behind the city of Starnberg.

Anyone who thinks that a treasurer in Pöcking has no worries is wrong: the community has been waiting for a judgment for years. The question is whether she has to pay trade tax plus interest back to a financially strong company. As a precaution, Schmid noted around 33 million euros in expenditure for 2021. "This is the worst case that we take here," he explains. “But that's why the investments must not stop.” According to the budget, they don't either. A lot of money is planned for the fire brigades in the coming years. Schmid cautiously estimates that around 15 million euros will be needed to build the new Pöckingen fire station. It is still a matter of discussion whether there will be a joint rescue center with the DLRG. For a fire station in Maising, the municipality is calculating 3.3 million euros for planning and new construction by 2024.
