(CNN Spanish) - At least 12 people died and 68 were injured after a collision between two buses in the La Joya district, Arequipa department, located in southern Peru, according to the Andina news agency, which quotes the Ministry of Health .
The incident was recorded on Monday afternoon by the frontal collision of buses at kilometer 48 of the South Pan American Highway, Andina reported.
Authorities investigate what caused the accident, according to the report.
