Corona virus alert: 1000 hotel guests are trapped in their facility on a Spanish holiday island. Police are guarding the hotel in Tenerife, reports Spanish television.

Madrid / Santa Cruz de Tenerife - Due to a suspected coronavirus case, hundreds of guests are not allowed to leave their hotel on the Spanish holiday island of Tenerife for the time being. The hotel was placed under "sanitary control," but not quarantined, a spokeswoman for the local health agency told AFP on Tuesday. The suspected case is therefore an Italian hotel guest who had tested positive for the virus on Monday.

The man, who had vacationed on Tenerife with his wife, is now isolated in the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria hospital on the island.
