Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, 91, has died Tuesday at a hospital in Cairo after being in the ICU for several weeks because of a bowel problem, according to Egyptian state television. Mubarak, who held power with an iron fist from 1981 to 2011, was one of the dictators of the Arab world struck by the revolutions of the Arab spring . The concentrations in Tahrir Square in Cairo at the beginning of 2011 resulted in his resignation from office in February of that year. Arrested and jailed for the deaths of dozens of protesters during the riots in Cairo, Mubarak was released in March 2017.
