The secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, confirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities announcement of a plan to establish 3,500 settlement units in occupied Jerusalem, defying the statement issued by the Security Council yesterday, which called for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Erekat said in a statement carried by the Wafa Agency today that "every settler colonial stone amounts to a war crime", calling on the Security Council and members of the International Quartet to hold an international conference with full powers and based on the foundations of international law and international legitimacy to ensure an end to the Israeli occupation and the establishment of the state of Palestine and its capital Jerusalem on the borders of the fourth of June 1967
And the Palestinian people achieve their full rights, foremost of which is the return of the refugees to their homes in accordance with the relevant international resolutions.
Erekat called for the International Criminal Court to open an investigation on settlement and other war crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
