Former Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak died at 91

Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak , who ruled the country from 1981 to February 11, 2011, died at 91 years of age, according to local newspapers' Al Yawm al Sabi ',' Al Masri al Youm 'and' Daily News Egypt '.

The newspaper 'Al Yawm al Sabi' reported the death of the former Egyptian president and said that, although the family has not yet pronounced his death, his son Alaa Mubarak received messages of social condolences on the social networks of his father's death.

This Monday, Farid al Dib, the lawyer of the Egyptian ex-president, said that Mubarak had been in a hospital intensive care unit for about a month. Al Dib explained that Mubarak was admitted to intensive care after undergoing intestinal surgery in January in a military hospital in the country, according to the Egyptian newspaper 'Al Masri al Youm'.

Alaa Mubarak said in January that his father had been operated and that he was "stable." In early February, one of his grandchildren posted a photo with the ex-president on Instagram next to the message 'With all the love and appreciation', but without giving information about the operation or its status.

Mubarak, 91, was forced to abandon power in the midst of mass demonstrations against his Government in the framework of the so-called 'Arab Spring'. Since then he was subjected to various corruption trials, although in 2017 he was acquitted of charges of complicity in the murder of protesters during the repression of protests against him.

The former president was last seen in public in December 2018, when he testified in a trial against his successor, the Islamist Mohamed Mursi, who died last year during an appearance before a court in the country.
