Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated the need to eliminate terrorism in Idlib, calling on the international community to make a real contribution to combating terrorism, which constitutes a threat to security and stability in the world.
In a speech to the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva today, Lavrov pointed out that some countries support terrorists to implement their own agendas, as is the case in Idlib governorate, stressing the need to eliminate terrorism in them.
Lavrov said: "The position of some colleagues today is overshadowed by the desire to justify the atrocities of terrorist organizations and talking about an armistice with terrorists in Idlib that does not represent a concern for human rights, but rather is support for them in flagrant violation of international agreements and Security Council resolutions," stressing that the international community must fight terrorism Wherever it exists because it poses a threat to security and stability in the world.
Lavrov pointed out that "the spread of terrorism in the Middle East and North Africa and the intervention of NATO in Libya led to a migration crisis and Europe should work to get rid of the reasons that led to this by finding political solutions to international crises on the basis of dialogue and commitment to the United Nations Charter, not by using slogans Human rights in political games.
Lavrov stressed the need to build international relations on the basis of cooperation and mutual respect and to abandon the policy of double standards to meet challenges to international security and stability.
