Municipal in Toulouse: Mayor LR Jean-Luc Moudenc given favorite, before the EELV-LFI alliance

The outgoing councilor is victorious in all the configurations tested by Ifop. On the left, the ecologist Antoine Maurice is widely ahead.

In Toulouse, this is the first poll for the municipal elections. And, not surprisingly, he credits the outgoing LR mayor, Jean-Luc Moudenc (supported by La République en Marche) with a large advance. In the first round, the councilor would get 41% of the vote, according to the Ifop / Fiducial survey for La Dépêche du Midi , Radio 100% and Via Occitanie.

At the head of his “Citizen Archipelago”, the environmental candidate Antoine Maurice (supported by La France insoumise) rose to second place (25%), and took the leadership of the left. A real performance, in this region where the PS retains a strong anchor. Las, in Toulouse the socialist candidate Nadia Pellefigue is credited with 14% of the votes, before the former mayor Pierre Cohen (ex-PS having joined the party of Benoît Hamon, “Génération.s”) which caps at 7.5%.

The hypothesis of a triangular moves away

The candidate of the National Rally, Quentin Lamotte, who aims to qualify in the second round, does not seem able to succeed his bet. With 7% he would miss the bar by three points (10%). And this despite the RN score in the Europeans (11.43% in Toulouse) which makes him optimistic. Consequence of this poor performance, if it came true: the outgoing mayor would escape the threat of a triangular.

In the second round, the survey credits Jean-Luc Moudenc with 54% of the votes against a rallying list of the left led by Antoine Maurice. If this same list was led by Nadia Pellefigue, Jean-Luc Moudenc would be even more advantaged (57%).

In the hypothesis of a triangular, the candidate LR-LREM is nevertheless given the winner, with 49% of the votes against 45% for the list on the left and 6% for the National Rally.

"I think Toulouse is ready to have an environmental mayor", wants to believe Maurice

Often presented as the favorite of the ballot, Jean-Luc Moudenc remains particularly cautious. On January 17, he warned his troops during his first big meeting: " Some people conclude that it's won for us ... It's a mistake my friends. The risk may not be in front of us but it is in us. It has a name: it is demobilization. The one that feeds abstention ”. And to recall that in 2014, Pierre Cohen, then outgoing mayor of PS, was given the victory by the polls before being ... beaten. While in 2008, the left won the city with only 1,200 votes ahead of the right.

" I think Toulouse is ready to have an environmental mayor, and more than that, ready for an alternative ", wants to believe Antoine Maurice, who wishes to transform the city " into a laboratory of political innovation ".
