A drunk 70-year-old got behind the wheel on Monday evening and caused a violent rear-end collision on the A8 near Brunnthal.
Brunnthal - On Monday evening, around 10 p.m., a traffic accident between two vehicles occurred on the A8 near Brunnthal in the southern direction of travel. According to the police, a 50-year-old woman from the Rosenheim district drove her Audi A3 in the right lane when she suddenly heard a violent impact from behind. The cause was a subsequent VW Phaeton, which collided with the Rosenheimer’s Audi for an initially unknown cause and came to a standstill shortly afterwards on the right side of the road.
1.8 per mille and no driver's license
The officials of the Holzkirchen motorway police noticed at the scene of the accident that the 70-year-old VW driver from the Miesbach district smelled clearly of alcohol. A breath alcohol test carried out subsequently showed a value of 1.8 per thousand.
In the course of the accident recording, it also turned out that the Miesbacher is currently not in possession of a valid driver's license. Therefore, the onward journey was stopped and the man had to undergo blood sampling.
Nobody was hurt only by luck
Fortunately, despite the violent collision between the two vehicles, none of the people involved were injured. Massive front and rear damage was found on the two vehicles that were no longer ready to drive. The police report the total damage at around 17,000 euros.
Criminal proceedings were initiated against the 70-year-old who caused the accident because of the danger to road traffic and driving without a license.
The Brunnthal fire brigade was also involved in securing the accident site and removing debris.
