Former Egyptian President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak passed away today at the age of 92 after a prolonged struggle with illness.
The Egyptian presidency called Mubarak in a statement carried by Egyptian media.
It is noteworthy that Mubarak's health condition deteriorated during the recent period, which necessitated performing stomach surgery and then entering intensive care.
Mubarak assumed the Egyptian presidency from October 1981 to February 11, 2011.
