The Budget allocated 1.502 billion yuan to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, calling for an increase of 38.5% in 2019/20. The purpose is to promote inbound tourism and make the tourism industry contribute more to the economic prosperity of Hong Kong. The Budget estimates that the number of visitors to Hong Kong in 2020 will be 10% lower than last year, but it is still estimated that there will be 50.3 million visits to Hong Kong.

In addition to the baseline funding, the HKTB has allocated an additional 791 million yuan to re-launch and rebuild the tourism image of Hong Kong's hospitality capital and preferred tourist destinations, hoping to restore tourists' interest and confidence in Hong Kong. Government sources said that among them, more than 200 million yuan will be allocated to promote Hong Kong as a tourist city brand; 100 million yuan will be used to support the industry in overseas promotion; more than 100 million yuan will be used for conventions, cruises and multi-stop travel.
