Expects the number of tourists to fall by only 10%

The Budget allocated 1.502 billion yuan to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, calling for an increase of 38.5% in 2019/20. The purpose is to promote inbound tourism and make the tourism industry contribute more to the economic prosperity of Hong Kong. In addition to the baseline funding, the HKTB has allocated an additional 791 million yuan to re-launch and rebuild the tourism image of Hong Kong's hospitality capital and preferred tourist destinations, hoping to restore tourists' interest and confidence in Hong Kong. Government sources said that among them, more than 200 million yuan will be allocated to promote Hong Kong as a tourist city brand; 100 million yuan will be used to support the industry in overseas promotion; more than 100 million yuan will be used for conventions, cruises and multi-stop travel.

Many public events have been cancelled under the pneumonia epidemic, but the HKTB will continue to hold "Symphony of Lights", Chinese New Year Parade, Wine and Food Parade, Hong Kong Feast November and Winter Lantern Festival in 2020/21. Sources said that nearly 300 million in the budget will be used to promote event tourism, involving internationally renowned events.
