The Directorate of Agriculture in Latakia today ended the afforestation activities of the Basa complex on an area of approximately 100 dunums, as part of the province's efforts to improve and beautify the southern entrance of Latakia and turn it into an environmental park that will be an outlet for visitors.
The director of agriculture, Engineer Munther Khairbak, indicated in a statement to Lana that the Directorate worked more than a year ago to beautify the Bassa site and remove the landfills from it, where about 800 transfers of waste were carried in the Directorate’s machinery, evacuated agricultural soil and planted it with green rugs to start the workshops about ten days ago by planting the site and planting it with various trees Ornamentation, forestry and aromatic within the afforestation plan in the province for this year .. And to be an ecological garden over the entire area that extends over 100 acres.
Khairbik pointed out that the directorate will continue its work on the site to secure care and attention for planters and protect them from tampering, so that in the future it will be a popular destination for people as a garden, park, and investment of forest products and products of education and development workshops in the directorate to equip them with seats and basic requirements for this purpose.
For his part, Engineer Jaber Saqour, the assistant head of the forestry department in the directorate, stated that the department's workers worked on planting the site with 10750 tree, tree, ornamental and aromatic plantings in areas that are suitable for cultivation and in various types, including jakranda, richtonia, hibiscus, tannins, poplar, carnobus, laurel, and the formation of cultivated areas in different forms within a cosmetic vision that takes into account The floral colors and aesthetic overlap.
