Bremen / Lower Saxony - Despite the rapid spread of the corona virus in Italy and other countries in Europe, there will be no travel restrictions for the foreseeable future. This was decided by the EU health ministers at a crisis meeting in Rome. Nevertheless, people traveling to Lower Saxony and Bremen from particularly affected areas should observe certain rules .

Travelers departing from Bremen Airport don't have to worry about any special controls at the moment. As a direct connection to a badly affected area, the airline Ryanair offers the connection to Milan / Bergamo Airport . This airport is still open and can be approached. Ryanair points out on the website that all flights to and from Italy are regular. Travelers arriving from affected areas in Bremen should report if symptoms of illness appear.

From Hanover Airport, the airline Volotea offers flights to Italy , including connections to Venice in the Veneto region , which is severely affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Individual villages in this region have been cordoned off. Neither Hanover Airport nor Venice Airport are currently planning any special measures to restrict air traffic.

Coronavirus in Lower Saxony and Bremen: What rail travelers have to consider

Nothing is changing for rail travelers in Lower Saxony and Bremen at the moment. No special checks are carried out at large train stations. Recently there was only one incident on a Eurocity train on the way to Munich. However, the suspected coronavirus cases were not confirmed. In Italy , train travel can currently be canceled free of charge ; no such measures are planned in Germany.

Coronavirus in Lower Saxony and Bremen: Consult a doctor for these symptoms

Travelers returning from areas at risk of coronavirus or who have had contact with people at risk need only report to the doctor's office if symptoms occur. The following signs can indicate infection with the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen:

  • fever
  • a headache
  • Sore throat
  • Breathing problems such as shortness of breath
  • lung infection

With these symptoms, people should ask a resident doctor for advice. If possible, a first clarification by phone is useful to protect other people. Coronavirus suspected cases must now be reported to the relevant health authority in Bremen or Lower Saxony .

As of February 26, the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin classified the following regions as risk areas :

  • In China: Hubei Province and the cities of Wenzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Taizhou in Zhejiang Province
  • In Iran: Qom province
  • In Italy: Province of Lodi in the Lombardy region and the city of Vo in the province of Padua in the Veneto region
  • In South Korea: Gyeongsangbuk-do Province (North Gyeongsang).
