Italy takes steps to control the coronavirus 2:53
(CNN) - For the first time in the new outbreak of coronavirus, the number of new cases reported outside of China in a single day was greater than those reported within China, the World Health Organization reported Wednesday.
China reported 412 confirmed cases on Wednesday, while 459 additional cases were reported outside of China, according to the WHO daily report.

Most cases in China come from Hubei province, which reported 401 new cases. Six came from outside mainland China, including four from Hong Kong, which WHO includes in the China count.
More than half of the new cases outside of China come from South Korea, which reported 284 cases.
