But these 13 heads of lists "Parisiennes, Parisiens" decided all the same to continue their fight without their leader Gaspard Gantzer, rallied since last week to the candidate LREM Agnès Buzyn.
"A surge of sympathy has been felt since Thursday"
With its 2,500 activists, the citizen movement will finally present its candidates in the 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th arrondissements. "Parisiennes, Parisiens, it is a program developed and built for over 2 years by competent and motivated working groups to act by promoting the well-being of citizens for the present and the future," insists the collective. "A surge of sympathy, empathy and solidarity has been felt since Thursday," said Thomas Clay, campaign director of the movement.
While their ex-boss Gaspard Gantzer assures that the funds would be lacking to continue the campaign of the municipal ones, Thomas Clay affirms the opposite. "Gaspard had indeed told us about these money problems a few days before joining LREM but the vast majority of the heads of lists had announced that they were ready to continue the campaign on their own funds," reports Thomas Clay.
"Betrayal is part of politics," he adds, thinking of his friend. "I do not know what happened nor what was promised to him ... I do not understand why Gaspard sabotaged what it took two years to build", wonders the campaign director of the movement.
Gaspard Ganter, for his part, said he did not want to "argue" and preferred to focus on his new role: head of the list in the 6th arrondissement for LREM. He says he is delighted to have joined the campaign of Agnès Buzyn whom he knows very well. "With it, LREM finds itself in a position to win the election", assures the one who himself capped at 1% in the polls.
The former head of the Parisiennes list, Parisiens for the Benjamin Djiane center has also joined LREM. He will be in 5th position on the list of Pacôme Rupine.
