(CNN) - When it comes to the safety of new coronaviruses, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have some suggestions on facial hair.
According to a CDC infographic, side mustaches, padlocks and handlebar mustaches can be carried. But styles like the beard, Dali and the closed beard are not recommended, because they are likely to interfere with a respirator mask.

Masks and respirators are being used worldwide to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, which has reached more than 80,000 cases worldwide. A respirator covers at least the nose and mouth and protects against particles that include infectious agents, the CDC said. However, the CDC does not recommend everyday use outside the workplace.
Facial hair represents a risk to the effectiveness of respirators because it can prevent the exhalation valve from functioning properly if the two come into contact, according to the infographic.
