How far are the plans for the barrier-free expansion of the train station in Ebenhausen? The municipality of Schäftlarn, associations and individuals have been fighting for an improvement of the situation for years.

Schäftlarn - Because in order to be able to get to the platforms at all, 51 steps have to be overcome. An absurdity especially for mothers with prams, seniors with walkers and people who are dependent on wheelchairs.

The then Federal Minister of Transport Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) got together with his party colleague Florian Hahn in early summer 2016 to get an idea. The result of the visit: Dobrindt agreed to be included in the federal government's future investment program (ZIP). The federal government is thus financing the expansion planning with which Deutsche Bahn can now begin. The ZIP is intended for stations in whose catchment area there are retirement homes or workshops for people with disabilities, which in turn make an increased need for accessibility necessary - as is the case in Ebenhausen.

Retirement home as an argument

The old mission and nursing home of the Inner Mission at Gerhardt-Hauptmann-Weg 10 alone has over 80 nursing places, the living area offers 44 other seniors a home, and 48 spaces have been set up for the protective care of people with dementia.

The administration has now asked the rail company how far the planning has already progressed. "We wrote to various positions," said Mayor Matthias Ruhdorfer (CSU) at the last meeting of the local council. "In the end, the station management responded." At the moment, there are some issues in the detailed coordination. Once the project order has been completed, the various services are advertised as well as "the creation of the planning with a comparison of variants is promoted."

The station management expects that the results will be available as the basis for further steps in the middle to the end of next year. There is apparently no timetable for the actual expansion. The workload of the contractors and the public procurement law are among other things the reason for this delay. But: "As soon as we have completed the preliminary planning, we will be happy to contact you."
