The decision is based on the definition of anti-Semitism by the IHRA International Holocaust Preservation Alliance, which was adopted by the Austrian government 3 years ago. It condemns "all forms of anti-Semitism - including and specifically in the context of the State of Israel," the BDS actions and requires the Austrian government to act against them Austria's undisputed support for Israel's existence.

The Austrian parliament also unanimously states that "the demand for a return of the Palestinians and their descendants casts doubt on the existence of the State of Israel."

MPs urge the Austrian government to fight anti-Semitism in its forms in a determined and consistent manner and to take the following actions: Formulate a strategy to combat anti-Semitism as part of the strategy to prevent racism, xenophobia, radicalization and violence.

As well as staunch condemnation of the BDS movement, and in particular calls for boycotting products, companies, artists, scientists, athletes from Israel, the denial of the use of halls and infrastructures from organizations and associations manifesting anti-Semitism or questioning Israel's right to exist.

In addition, it includes denying financial support or otherwise from events of the BDS movement or groups promoting its goals, and a demand to continue to foster Austria's role as a particularly suitable place for international dialogue.

Austrian Ambassador to Austria Mordechai Rodgold told Israel today that "it is a strong and clear signal that the entire Austrian people, as represented in Parliament, are denouncing anti-Semitism on any issue. I applaud the decision that its message is clear - anti-Semites have no place in the Austrian parliament or society" .

Foreign Minister Israel Katz welcomed the decision, saying that "this is a very decisive decision that could serve as an example for other countries in Europe and the world, and I urge countries and parliaments to follow Austria and adopt similar decisions."
