  • The German contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 has been confirmed.
  • Today's Thursday, February 27th brought the expected information about the ESC 2020 .
  • The news was released earlier than many thought.

Update February 27, 2020, 6:02 p.m .: Ben Dolic will start at the ESC 2020 for Germany . Now the song title is also known: it will be an English song. "Violent Thing" is the title with which Dolic wants to win in Rotterdam. The label informs about the artist: "The Berliner of choice, who grew up in Slovenia and also lived in Switzerland, with his international background should be an ideal representative of the young, cosmopolitan Germany on the ESC stage."

Dolic was born on May 4th, 1997 in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana. Already in the summer of last year he was asked whether he wanted to take part in the jury selection process for the ESC. He agreed and prevailed in a multi-stage process by convincing both German juries. What is meant is a “Eurovision Jury” made up of 100 people from all over Germany and an international expert jury made up of 20 music professionals.

About the party anthem, Dolic says himself: “I'm celebrating the song! I'm so happy with it because it comes across as absolutely international. When you hear “Violent Thing” for the first time, you get a grin on your face and feel like partying in the club. ”

ESC contribution 2020 for Germany: Who is the 22 year old

But who is our ESC hope for 2020? 22-year-old Ben Dolic may already be familiar to some “The Voice” viewers. He took second place in the casting show in 2018. He was born in Slovenia and moved to Switzerland with his family at the age of 18. Ben Dolic tried to jump onto the big stage early on, when he was twelve he reached the semi-finals of the Slovenian version of "Das Supertalent" . Dolic fulfilled his dream with his ESC participation in Rotterdam: As a member of the "D Base" group, he already participated in the Slovenian ESC preliminary decision in 2016 , but had to give up against ManuElla at the time.

Eurovision Song Contest 2020: Suspicious clip deleted - German representative leaked?

Update February 27, 2020, 11.30 a.m .: A fan has discovered that a new song by Benjamin Dolic appears in the ISRC database, in which digital IDs for songs are kept (ISRC stands for International Standard Recording Code). More precisely: from B-Ok with Ben Dolic . The title is " Violent thing ", the ISRC number DEUM72000477.

B-Ok is probably the producer Boris Milanov from Austria. Does Germany really get ESC support from a neighbor? He has a website here that is titled " Eurovision Song Contest " - because he is an old acquaintance and has already produced ESC songs for Malta or Austria .

Of course, there could still be a completely different explanation. Maybe Ben Dolic is actually at the presentation of the German ESC song today, but not a German representative? And just presents his new single? Or will Dolic compete for Switzerland, which is still introducing her song?

Eurovision Song Contest 2020: Suspicious clip deleted - Did German participants give themselves away? It is a TV star

Update February 27, 2020, 9.58 a.m .: Today the German contribution to the ESC 2020 will be officially announced. In a TV show in the evening from 9.30 p.m. on transmitter One . And in advance the media at a presentation in Hamburg. They can report about it in the afternoon and also spread the name of the German Eurovision Song Contest representative.

Many fans now have a suspicion of who the German candidate might be: Benjamin Dolic , " The Voice of Germany " second from 2018, who also once participated in the Slovenian ESC preliminary decision.

Where does the suspicion come from? In his Instagram and Facebook story, Dolic posted a clip with a camera pan that looks suspiciously like the cinema in which the ESC article is presented today. This is now - suspicious! - deleted. This happens after the 24 hours after which an Insta story is automatically removed. Our online editorial team also saw the clip yesterday.

He also deleted one of his Instagram profiles under the name "Usually Quiet". Will the presumption be true in the end? Or is everything just a coincidence? Maybe Benjamin Dolic only appears as a guest on the ESC show? We know more in the afternoon. And fans are already joking about the NDR secretiveness and speculation. "Elke Schröder, known for many tent festivals in Dithmarschen", jokes one on esc-kompakt.de.

Eurovision Song Contest 2020: German contribution known earlier than expected today

Our first report from February 26, 2020:

Hamburg - The fans of the Eurovision Song Contest have been looking forward to torture for a long, long time. Since December it has been clear which artist (or a band?) Will perform which song at the ESC 2020 in Rotterdam. And this info was successfully kept under lock and key. There were only a few promo videos, including the announcement of the "best ESC song ever".

Eurovision Song Contest 2020: Who sings for Germany at the ESC?

But now the day has come! Thursday, February 27 brings the information who is going to ESC 2020 for Germany. Is it ex-DSDS star Daniel Schuhmacher that is hotly traded in fan circles? However, it will almost certainly not be Helene Fischer * or celebrity daughter Marie Reim. But you never know. It will not be easy to survive against the strong ESC competition - many are currently celebrating an Icelandic.

ESC 2020: Info about German contribution may leak in the afternoon

The big TV announcement * will be available this Thursday from 9:30 p.m. on ARD station One. This was announced at an early stage, so fans probably assumed that the German contribution would not be known until then. But what many do not know: The German representative will be public earlier than expected. Because during the day, the NDR invites the media representatives to an appointment in Hamburg, where the song and name become known. And the broadcast is recorded. The so-called "blocking period" ends in the afternoon and everything is allowed to the public. So it gets exciting during the day. We will of course keep you up to date on who should make the Sisters flop from last year forget.
