More than three tons of cocaine from South America which were to arrive in the port of Marseille were seized in Italy as part of an international police operation, announced Thursday, February 27, the prosecutor of Marseille Dominique Laurens.

Three people who were to take delivery of the drug in France were arrested near Marseille, she added during a press conference with the boss of the French anti-narcotics office (OFAST) Stéphanie Cherbonnier and, in videoconference, Italian prosecutor Giuseppe Creazzo. The drug could have brought in 230 million euros at retail resale, according to OFAST.
