In North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous region in Germany, fourteen new cases have been confirmed, said the Land's ministry of health. All these people were assigned to a quarantine at home, "because treatment in the hospital is not necessary," he added in a statement.
The total number of confirmed cases of virus infection in this region thus rises to 20. Almost all are residents of the town of Gangelt, the ministry said without giving details of the patients or the possible source of their contamination. One of them is a Bundeswehr soldier, whose case was revealed on Wednesday, and who is hospitalized.
