The Iraqi Council of Representatives has postponed the confidence-giving session of the government of Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi until next Saturday.
"The parliament decided to postpone its session until next Saturday because of the lack of quorum," Hassan al-Kaabi, the first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, said in a brief statement today.
In a related context, a parliamentary source revealed to the SANA correspondent in Baghdad that "deep disagreements about the cabinet formation and its government program led to the deputies not entering the meeting hall."
Allawi had arrived at the headquarters of the Iraqi parliament with his cabinet formation earlier today.
