Since the opposition to the revision of the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance, there have been new civil servant unions. The "Hong Kong Fire and Ambulance Control Team Personnel Union" officially registered with the Trade Unions Registration Office on January 8 and became a statutory union. Today (28) the first general meeting was held, and a list of directors was established by voting. The union currently has 675 members. Some elected directors stated that they were initially worried about pressure from the management, but hoped that a new channel would fully receive and reflect the opinions of colleagues.

The Hong Kong Fire and Ambulance Control Team staff union became a statutory union on January 8. It currently has 675 members, mainly from fire and ambulance, and about 2% from the control group, civilian personnel, engineering group, academy, etc. The first general meeting was held today (28th), and a list of seven elected members was established after a vote. The union will provide assistance to those affected by the anti-revision incident, including those arrested. It is also currently concerned about the issue of epidemic prevention equipment for new coronavirus epidemics.

The elected member of the ambulance, He Weijie, and the control group Chen Jiewei are the "first brother" of the union. He Weijie said that when he stepped up to participate in the new union, he was worried that he would face pressure from the management, but he hoped that a new channel could fully receive and reflect the opinions of colleagues, and thought that some things must be done by others. Chen Jiewei pointed out that she did not withdraw from the union of the grade to which she joined from the school. After deciding to join the new union, she was kindly concerned by her colleagues in the old union. Cai Zhaobo, a former ambulance director and Su Songliang, a senior fire chief, were elected directors. Cai Zhaobo said that he had withdrawn from the Ambulancemen ’s Association last October because “the ideas are not similar.” He was asked if he was worried that the management would not accept the new union and it was difficult to communicate. I believe that after communication, I will understand that the purpose of the new union is to speak for members and fight for reasonable rights and interests. I also believe that the establishment of the list of directors will make more colleagues confident and join.

Su Songliang, who joined the firefighting for 15 years, also expects the new union to "do what reunification unions will do." He stated clearly that psychological preparation will affect promotion, but "if there is something worth doing, reunification will be done."

The previous five unions of the Fire Services Department are the Hong Kong Fire Officers Association, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department Ambulance Officers Association, the Hong Kong Fire Control Team Staff Association, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department Staff Association, and the Hong Kong Fire Services Department Ambulance Workers Association. Last year, the government introduced amendments to the "Fugitive Offenders Ordinance". The relevant trade unions wrote to the government to express their support. After the conflict between the police and the people, they had sent a private letter to the Commissioner of Police to pay "high respect". Relevant practices caused dissatisfaction. Without consulting members' opinions, they expressed their opinions in the name of the union.
