Former Democratic Party Chairman Yang Sen, Labour Party Li Zhuoren, and One Media founder Li Zhiying were arrested this morning (28th). The Mainland Committee (Mainland Affairs Commission) under the Taiwanese government issued a statement today saying that it was "seriously concerned" about the arrest of Hong Kong media and pan-democratic parties, and called on the Hong Kong government to exercise restraint, not to settle accounts after the fall, and to give priority to epidemic prevention. .

The MAC statement mentioned that there is still conflict in Hong Kong society recently, but Hong Kong people have not given up the pursuit of democracy because of the epidemic, and the international community has not forgotten its support for Hong Kong's freedom and human rights. Therefore, the MAC believes that as the epidemic spreads, the ruling party should unite all walks of life and fight against the epidemic, and the accounts after the fall "does not help stabilize the situation and cannot obtain public approval of the government."

The MAC also called on the Hong Kong side to "don't make further waves, and think hard and respond sincerely to the people's aspirations." It also said that the Hong Kong Government should implement the Basic Law to protect the freedom of assembly and procession of Hong Kong citizens.

After reviewing the information, the FDC applied for "8/31 regrouping" rally and procession last year, but was rejected by the police and the appeal failed. The FDC subsequently announced the cancellation of its activities. On the same day, Yang Sen, Li Zhuoren and Li Zhiying participated in a "100,000 Christians Pray for Hong Kong Sinners" parade without the approval of the police.
