The number of confirmed cases of Wuhan pneumonia in Hong Kong is increasing. The government has gradually restricted mainland tourists from entering Hong Kong since late January this year, resulting in a significant decrease in the number of tourists visiting Hong Kong. According to the latest data released by the HKTB, the number of visitors to Hong Kong in January was 3.2078 million, a year-on-year decrease of 52.7%, of which the number of mainland visitors was 2.5367 million, a year-on-year decrease of 54.2%.

Taking into account January this year, the number of visitors to Hong Kong has fallen for seven consecutive months.

The HKTB also pointed out that the number of visitors from short-haul markets (excluding the Mainland and Macau) was 295,200, down 57.2% year-on-year; among them, South Korean visitors fell 77.7%, Thai visitors also decreased 68.9%, and Japanese visitors decreased 62.2%.

Long-haul passengers fell by 32.5% year-on-year to 256,700, of which Australian and American visitors fell by 35.5% and 35%, respectively.
